Protects the key from scratches
A simple, wrap-around leather case that will protect your key if you keep it in a pocket with other things.A drop of Loctite or even silicon adhesive will keep the nice BMW logo screw from backing out.It fits the key for our 2011 X3, and still allows easy access to the buttons.We ordered a red one for my wife and a black one for me to avoid confusing who's key is who's. This is important, since on the new BMW's the key coding controls seat and mirror positions as well as radio presets and phone directories.

Bought for my BMW 328i
Very nice item. Does a great job of protecting the smart key from dust, dirt. etc. and looks great.I went back and bought another for my spare key. I'm a bit cautious that constant use over timemight unscrew the roundlet from the post and the parts would get lost so I put a drop ofLockTite on the post before I attached the two through the leather holes. They're solid now.

Works but not great
Nothing beats a built in sunglass holder. Its too bad this doesnt do that great a job. I think BMW believes that driving is more important than nick nack storage etc.

Nice but too bulky to fit anywhere in my convertible
My wife got me one of these for my birthday, and I was all excited until I tried to find a place to mount it. I have an E93 (2008 BMW 328i hardtop convertible), and there doesn't seem to be a good place to mount it. I think it would fit fine in the 4-door Bimmers.

But if it meant to enhance the BMW brand by offering more vehicles just as capable and functional as the M3 and the M5, then we argue that BMW has moved in the exact opposite direction. The M division really first established its name in the early days by turning the already good 3-series into the sensationally good M3. The same can be said with the insanely quick yet very practical M5. These were cars that could not only handle... Instead of sleek sedans that were built for performance from the ground up, BMW decided to inject extra horsepower into their X5 and X6 , tweak around the suspension a bit, and slap M-badges on both. For the past several years, BMW’s purebred, performance oriented M lineup of vehicles has been loosing sight of what the M badge actually means. But a ‘good thing’ is all about perspective and if it meant more sales and adding several more ridiculously expensive vehicles to the Bimmer inventory, then doubling the offer of the M line was a very ‘good thing’. So, half the M vehicles may not be actual M vehicles and the only new M car we’d actually want can’t be purchased. Or is this diesel movement just another round of BMW jumping on the branding bandwagon and further diluting M’s reputation as a hardcore, focus performance division. What’s more, each diesel vehicle will have three turbos strapped to the inline-six that will be standard across the entire M diesel range. Instead, these vehicles cater to a crowd that get off on the fact they’re driving a BMW more powerful and less fuel efficient than their neighbor’s.

-In the MINI-E program there was no excessive wear and tear clause. However every day life wear and tear isn't an issue. If BMW suspects somebody intentionally abused the car, they will make them pay for it, I know this for certain as I have had discussions about this very topic.
